Lunch in Ulupalakua, 1985

I spent the morning in Ulupalakua wandering the area for a composition that would reach out and grab me. After many hours spent hiking around the cinder cones and sketching ranch paraphernalia, nothing really called out to me. When noon arrived I was no longer seeking anything other than a place to have my lunch. That is precisely the moment my fortunes reversed. I had lunch with the horses.
